THE FULL REVIEW
RIGHT BEHAVIOR, RIGHT TOOL, VOLUME REQUIRED.
Syte is purpose-built for fashion ecommerce. The core is camera-first shopping: a shopper snaps a photo or uploads an inspiration image and Syte surfaces visually matching products instantly. It also covers visual and text search, automated product tagging, shop-the-look recommendations, and personalization, with visual similarity algorithms trained specifically on apparel data. Pricing is GMV-based.
The behavior it serves is natural. Someone sees a look and wants to find it or something like it. The catch is GMV-based pricing, which only pencils out for brands with real volume, so for smaller catalogs this stays a watch rather than a buy.
WHERE IT EARNS ITS PLACE
High-traffic fashion ecommerce, large assortments where shoppers browse visually, and discovery experiences built around inspiration images rather than keywords.
WHERE WE WOULD NOT USE IT
Small catalogs, early-stage brands still building traffic, or stores where a shopper can already see the whole assortment in a few scrolls.
WHERE IT FITS
AUDIT
Check traffic, catalog size, and whether shoppers browse visually today.
PILOT
Trial Syte visual search on one high-traffic category and track conversion.
INTEGRATE
Wire visual search and shop-the-look into search and PDP flows.
SCALE
Extend across the catalog when revenue clears the GMV-based cost.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR'S NOTE
WHERE FASHION ECOMMERCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
Visual search is where fashion e-commerce should have been five years ago. The behavior is natural: someone sees a look, they want to find it or something like it. Syte makes that work at e-commerce scale. For brands with the volume to justify it, this is a direct revenue driver.
