The V8 series rebuilt Midjourney from the ground up in 2026. V8.2 has been the default since July 24, generation runs about five times faster than V7, output is native 2K HD, and text rendering finally stopped garbling letters. Draft mode produces 24 low-resolution explorations per run for style hunting. Video remains available up to 21 seconds. Plans still start at $10 per month.
The risk is confusing a compelling image with a production-ready answer. Midjourney will reinterpret construction, fabric, proportion, and details. That may be useful during concepting, but it becomes a liability when the image is supposed to represent a real product.
WHERE IT EARNS ITS PLACE
Early campaign exploration, visual territories, storyboarding, treatment references, and creative conversations that would otherwise begin with a generic moodboard.
WHERE WE WOULD NOT USE IT
Final PDP imagery, exact print reproduction, color-critical product decisions, or any workflow where the customer could reasonably believe the generated garment is the garment being sold.

V8 CHANGED HOW I USE IT.
When a generation takes under ten seconds, you stop precious-ing over prompts and start iterating the way you would flip through a rail. The consistency tools carried over, the taste did not degrade, and the text fix quietly ate one of Ideogram's lunches. Still the fastest way I know to make a direction feel real in a room.
